Industries We Serve
An oceanic environment is the most dangerous natural environment to metals. Even the strongest alloys are susceptible to eventual rust and decay in these harsh conditions. Thick polypropylene coatings are advantageous in maritime environments because of their excellent impact resistance, water-tight seal, and intermediate flexibility. Coating wire rope in Terrafilum® polypropylene protects marine investments for years to come.
Construction applications use coated wire rope to protect lifting equipment from damage. This equipment sits outdoors in variable weather conditions for extended periods of time and undergoes significant stress from everyday use. Coating wire rope in Terrafilum® Nylon 6 provides satisfactory impact resistance, while retaining high flexibility to support the needed mobility of the wire.
Logistics applications for wire rope include lifting, towing, rigging, etc. All of these are outdoor functions with varying amounts of environmental protection. To keep loads safely secured coated wire rope is used to hold down loads in ever-changing conditions. TPU coatings provide excellent impact resistance, outstanding flexibility, and a long life cycle. PVC coatings provide all-around good outdoor protection at the expanse of a slightly shorter life cycle. Terrafilum® offers these coating options and more to meet your project requirements.
Commercial / Industrial
Wire rope is used in a myriad of commercial industries. Whether it be for bike locks, hanging lighting, or manufacturing assistance devices wire rope coatings are used for environmental protection and visual distinction. General-use coatings are typically PVC because it offers a good environmental resistance and high flexibility at an economical price. Terrafilum® offers PVC coatings in a variety of colors that can be either opaque or translucent. Coatings can also be color-matched on request.
